[With the brand still spreading outside, the inn was decidedly the safest place to hole up. Loop doesn't love the idea of just waiting, but there were already others working on the problem, and it would be embarrassing if the Researcher had to pull them out of it again... or worse, if she saw another memory of theirs. They shudder to think about what else might've been shared while they were under.
They're not thinking about it, though, so it's fine! Just like how they're not thinking about how they can't even sense stardust's presence anymore, or that neither he nor the Fighter have answered any of their Calls, or if the calls are even reaching them at all. Nope! Not thinking about any of those things! Not even a little!!
They need something to distract themselves, so they busy their hands folding little paper cranes, trying to make them tinier and tinier until their fingers hurt trying to get all the folds right.]
I HAVE EGGS! [ In comes this rowdy boy, loud, with two plates of eggs for this poor person. ] SIT YOUR ASS DOWN AND EAT IT RIGHT NOW! YOU NEED TO PICK WHICH ONE IS THE BEST.
[So, in the wake of...everything that was May, Stan realizes there are a bunch of folks he hasn't seen in a while. Loop is one of them, and weirdly probably the easiest to try and get a hold of under normal circumstances, since they taught him how to CALL LOOP. Plus, he can do it without his family knowing he's fussing over someone else's well being while he's supposed to be resting! Everyone wins!
So he puts his hand up like a telephone, thumb to his ear and pinky to his mouth, and thinks really hard about wanting to talk to Loop...
...But nothing happens. Even after a few tries.
He's still kind of high-strung after everything, and runs through the mental rolladex of what happened to them, but then a thought occurs. Maybe he can try something else, and check in on someone else at the same time. Loop is her kid, and he's pretty sure she knows how to do the magic phone call thing, so...worst it could do is not work, right?
So, he awkwardly pretends to hang up the "phone" and then picks it up again - except this time he thinks really hard about wanting to talk to Odile.]
Hello? Did this work? [A pause.] ...I'm gonna feel real dumb if this didn't work.
